Collectable book: BILL HENSON

Photographs (1979-84)

A great collectable hard-cover photographic book (published by Pan Books, 1988) on the early work of Australian photographer Bill Henson. The first section is a sequence of crowd scenes, and the second consists of images made in and around European museums and palaces (namely Versailles) contrasted with nude young women and men. Contains numerous bi-fold pages that create tryptichs plates when opened. Photographs by Bill Henson; introduction by David Malouf and essay Michael Heyward. 119 pages with 12 gatefolds; over 100 duo-toned b&w plates (dust jacket is slightly worn with a light crease; the rest is in very good condition).

Price: $175 AUD + postage email link

We originally made a documentary Dreams of Darkness around his exhibition at the 1995 Venice Bienniale where he represented Australia as an artist, whilst  giving context to his work as a whole.
